Having moved from Nghe An to Hanoi to rent an apartment to learn hairdressing, the two brothers ended up dealing drugs together. Ultimately, both ended up in prison.

On November 22, the Nghe An Provincial People's Court held a first-instance trial to hear the cases of defendants Truong Duc Anh (born in 1994) and Dang Quang Duy (born in 1995), both residing in Nghia Thanh commune, Nghia Dan district, charged with "Illegal trafficking of narcotics"; and defendant Le Quang Hung (born in 1995), residing in Quan Bau ward, Vinh City, charged with "Illegal possession of narcotics".

Duc Anh and Duy are cousins. Around March 2023, they both moved to Hanoi and rented an apartment to live in and learn hairdressing. Subsequently, these two individuals colluded to carry out two drug trafficking operations.

The first time, on the morning of August 4, 2023, Anh was contacted by Le Thi Nhung (born in 1995, residing in Hung Yen province) to order 20 synthetic drug pills ("candy") and about 100 grams of ketamine.Duc Anh agreed and quoted a price of 56 million VND. He then bought the drugs from a motorbike taxi driver for 45 million VND.

On August 7, 2023, Anh gave drugs to Duy to sell to Nhung. Nhung then took the drugs to sell to a customer at a park in Bac Giang City and was caught red-handed by the police. The investigating agency separated the case of Le Thi Nhung for separate trial, and she received a sentence of 11 years and 9 months in prison.

In addition to the aforementioned crimes, Anh also sold drugs to Le Quang Hung. Specifically, on August 10, 2023, Hung called Anh to inquire about purchasing 100 grams of ketamine and 100 synthetic drug pills.

Three days later, Hung transferred 71 million VND to Anh for the purchase of drugs. To obtain the drugs to sell to customers, Anh bought several pills from a man named Vuong (whose identity and background are unknown) for 19 million VND.

Later that afternoon, Vuong sent a delivery person to bring the drugs to Anh at his apartment. Since Anh was away in his hometown attending his father's memorial service, he asked his cousin, Duy, to go down and receive the drugs, which were disguised in a set of glass teacups and saucers.

Duy received the "goods" and sent them to Hung via passenger bus in Vinh City. Around 10 PM that same day, Hung was caught red-handed by the police while picking up the drugs.

Expanding the investigation, the police arrested Dang Quang Duy, while Anh surrendered to the police. The investigating agency determined that Anh and Duy had bought and sold drugs twice, totaling 148 grams. Defendant Le Quang Hung was held responsible for possessing over 71 grams of drugs.

At the trial, the defendants admitted to the crimes. Defendants Anh and Duy stated that they were cousins and rented a room together to learn hairdressing. However, driven by greed, the two defendants conspired to traffic drugs.

After considering the role of each defendant in the case, the panel of judges sentenced Dang Quang Duy and Truong Duc Anh to 20 years in prison each. Defendant Le Quang Hung received a 10-year sentence for the crime of illegally possessing narcotics.
