UK calls for Nord Stream restart
British politicians have called for the Nord Stream gas pipeline to be restarted, buying cheap gas from Russia.

According to RIA Novosti on January 13, the leader of the British Heritage Party, David Curten, on the social network X called for restarting the remaining branches of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and once again buying Russian gas.
“One of the four Nord Stream pipelines is undamaged and can be restarted very quickly. Let’s get good gas back from our friends in Russia,” Curten wrote.
The explosion on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 export pipelines occurred on September 26, 2022. As stated by Nord Stream AG, the accident is unprecedented and the repair timeframe cannot be estimated. The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has opened a criminal case on international terrorism. According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, Moscow has repeatedly requested data on the state of emergency but has never received it.
According to an American journalist Seymour Hersh, American divers placed explosives under gas pipelines during NATO's Baltops 2022 exercise, and three months later, the Norwegians detonated them.
Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the restart of the remaining branch of Nord Stream 2 could take place within a week, if the German side is ready. However, the Russian leader said that Berlin showed no interest in resuming the energy partnership.
Previously, on January 12, German Chancellor candidate Alice Weidel pledged to restart the Nord Stream gas pipeline if she wins the parliamentary election on February 23.
