Mr. Son: Focus on disease prevention for livestock after the storm

(Baonghean.vn) - To proactively prevent epidemics and protect livestock after storms, Anh Son district is implementing many solutions.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duyen's family in Kim Tien village, Phuc Son commune, has a total herd of 15 cows. After storm No. 2, strong winds and heavy rains caused part of his family's barn to lose its roof. To avoid affecting the livestock, Mr. Duyen proactively repaired and reinforced the barn.

According to Mr. Duyen, after a storm, the weather is often hot and humid, which is a favorable condition for diseases to develop, so the family bought lime powder to spread in the barn, along with medicine to spray to disinfect.

Mr. Nguyen The Phuong, Vice Chairman of Phuc Son Commune, said: The whole commune has a total herd of 2,815 buffaloes, 1,216 cows, and over 5,000 pigs. Disease prevention work is always focused on by the people and local authorities.

Accordingly, immediately after storm No. 2, the commune directed the veterinary team of the villages to go to the households to check, for the barns damaged after the storm, mobilized the people to repair, in flooded areas, sprayed disinfectant, promptly detected diseases for prevention.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ung, head of the Veterinary Station of Anh Son district, said: The total livestock herd of the district currently has 18,355 buffaloes, 20,258 cows, and 56,593 pigs.

After the storm, the resistance of livestock is reduced, which is the reason why diseases easily arise, so the district has implemented many solutions, focusing on vaccination, while focusing on instructing farmers on techniques of cleaning barns, food, and drinking water. Along with that, veterinary staff are assigned to be on duty in localities so that when there are signs of disease, they can be handled promptly, besides actively checking the transportation of livestock and poultry in the area...
