Ánh Viên continues to break Games records, winning the gold medal at AIMAG 5.

Vietnamese swimmer finished first in the women's 100m individual medley (25m pool) with a time of 1 minute 00 seconds 68 at the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games on the evening of September 25th.

In the first heat of the final, Nguyen Thi Anh Vien proved unrivaled in her strongest event. She quickly surged ahead from the starting block. After the first 50 meters, she was 0.27 seconds ahead of Kan Cheuk Tung Natalie. In the final 50 meters, Chinese swimmer Zhang Chenyao made a strong surge but still couldn't catch up with Anh Vien.

The Vietnamese swimmer crossed the finish line first after 1 minute 00 seconds 68, breaking Zhou Yanxin's 2013 Incheon Games record by 0.56 seconds. Zhang had to settle for the silver medal, losing by 0.23 seconds, while the bronze medal went to her Chinese compatriot, Qian Xinan.

This is Anh Vien's second gold medal and a new Games record at AIMAG 5, following her time of 2 minutes 09 seconds 78 in the 200m individual medley. At that time, she also beat Zhang and Qian by a large margin (2.89 seconds and 4.15 seconds respectively). The "Little Mermaid" concluded the Games with two gold medals and one silver medal.

On the final day of swimming competition, Vietnam also had one more event to compete in: the men's 4x100m mixed relay. In the qualifying round, Tran Duy Khoi, Truong The Anh, Huynh Man Dat, and Nguyen Huu Kim Son achieved the seventh best time with 3 minutes 45 seconds 24.

Ánh Viên's victory brought Vietnam's total number of gold medals to 11. Also on September 25th, the mixed pair Nguyễn Trung Kiên and Phạm Hồng Anh won the gold medal in Salsa ballroom dancing.
