ASEAN expresses solidarity with countries hit by earthquake disaster

According to a VNA correspondent in Indonesia, on April 17, ASEAN Foreign Ministers issued a statement on the recent earthquakes that occurred in several countries around the world.

The statement said: "ASEAN countries are deeply saddened by the recent earthquakes in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ecuador, India, Japan, Myanmar, Nepal and Pakistan that have caused numerous casualties and severe damage to property. ASEAN expresses its deepest sympathy and condolences to the governments and people of the affected countries, especially the families of the victims of the earthquakes."

ASEAN affirmed its readiness to expand cooperation and support in all possible forms to contribute to the efforts of the governments and people of affected countries to overcome this difficult time and recover soon.

The above statement of ASEAN was made after many earthquakes occurred in the above countries since the beginning of April, taking the lives of hundreds of people and causing serious material damage.

According to the latest figures, the earthquake this morning, April 17 (Vietnam time) in Ecuador has killed at least 77 people and injured nearly 600.

Meanwhile, in Japan, rescue teams are racing against time to search for victims of two powerful earthquakes in the past three days. So far, the death toll in Japan has been confirmed at 41./.
