Asian Cup 2019: Thailand gets another assistant coach.
To support the national team at the 2019 Asian Cup, the Football Association of Thailand appointed former star player Choketawee as assistant coach.
On the morning of December 18th, Bangkok time, at the headquarters of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT), Thai football leaders met to discuss plans for the 2019 Asian Cup finals.Komchadluek.
During the meeting, FAT President Somyot Poompanmoung announced the appointment of Choketawee Promrut. He is the third assistant coach to Milovan Rajevac, alongside Sirisak Yodyardthai (Thai) and Milovan Zecovic (Serbian).
The remaining positions in the Thai coaching staff remain unchanged. The team that worked well with Rajevac, including goalkeeping coach Sasa Todic, fitness coach Nebojsa Stamenkovic, and doctor Mitrovic Velibor, will continue to be used.

"Thank you to FAT for trusting me and giving me this task. I hope to pass on my experience to the players, helping them regain their confidence. My main task is to act as a bridge between Coach Rajevac and me. Each assistant has their own responsibilities, and I am satisfied with this job," Choketawee said at his unveiling.
At the 2018 AFF Cup, Sirisak was assigned the role of liaison between coach Rajevac and the players. However, the 49-year-old assistant coach failed to fulfill his nhiệm vụ. According to Thai media, Sirisak lacked the authority and influence to help the Thai players maintain psychological stability.
Choketawee is a renowned Thai football player, a contemporary of Kiatisuk. He previously visited Vietnam, coaching HAGL in 2005, then took charge of the Thai U23 team and won the gold medal at the 28th SEA Games in 2015. Later, due to disagreements with national team coach Kiatisuk, Choketawee resigned from the FAT (Football Association of Thailand).
The decision to appoint Choketawee came a day earlier than the Thai national team's training camp, which is scheduled for today, December 19th. Thai media welcomed the event, even calling Choketawee "The Lucky Gentleman" thanks to the gold medal he won at the 28th SEA Games.

At the 2019 Asian Cup, Thailand was in a relatively easy group, facing two weaker opponents, India and Bahrain. The "War Elephants'" goal was to finish second, securing a place in the round of 16.
