Audi recalls 850,000 diesel vehicles worldwide.

Luxury car brand Audi has just announced a recall of 850,000 vehicles worldwide, equipped with V6 and V8 TDI diesel engines.

This Audi recall aims to fine-tune the software on the affected vehicles to improve their emissions levels. The repair work will take approximately one hour per vehicle and will be performed free of charge.

According to Audi spokesperson Udo Rügheimer, the company's goal is to reduce overall emissions, especially in urban areas. "We want to maintain the existence of Audi diesel engines, contributing to improved air quality."

The German luxury carmaker also said it would cooperate with authorities in the investigations but avoided mentioning whether any violations had been found. The move comes just days after the German government agreed to drop plans to limit diesel engines if older models could be modified to reduce emissions.

Previously, Audi had been accused by the German government of cheating on emissions tests for its high-end vehicles.
