Axios: President Putin and Mr. Zelensky may meet soon.

According to the TASS news agency, citing an exclusive report from the Axios portal on January 25, an unnamed US official stated: "We are very close to a meeting between Putin and Zelensky."

However, the source also emphasized that for this historic event to take place, the parties need to hold additional trilateral negotiations to agree on technical and core issues.

"We believe that these level meetings need to take place before the meeting between the two leaders. We are not far from that goal. If we continue on the current path, we will reach our destination," the official emphasized.

The basis for these optimistic assessments stems from the trilateral consultations between representatives of Russia, the United States, and Ukraine that were held in Abu Dhabi on January 23 and 24.

Washington assessed the negotiations as having gone "as well as expected." Another official told Axios: "We are pleased with the current position of the parties."

The atmosphere in the meeting room was described as serious and constructive. "Everything was discussed. No one avoided any issue. We didn't need to pressure anyone because everyone showed respect and were genuinely looking for solutions," the source said.

According to Axios, the discussions in Abu Dhabi covered all aspects of a possible peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine. The parties did not hesitate to raise even the most sensitive issues.

Specifically, the topics include territorial issues, control of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, and de-escalation measures from both sides. The willingness of both sides to discuss these "red lines" in detail is seen as a significant step forward in recent diplomatic efforts.

Currently, neither Russia nor Ukraine has issued an official comment on the information published by Axios.
