Mrs. Dang Bich Ha - Wife of General Vo Nguyen Giap passed away

Ms. Dang Bich Ha was born in 1928 in Nghe An, the daughter of Professor Dang Thai Mai. She is an Associate Professor and Doctor of History.

Mrs. Dang Bich Ha and General Vo Nguyen Giap had four children: Vo Hoa Binh, Vo Hanh Phuc, Vo Dien Bien and Vo Hong Nam. In addition, she always loved and treated Mrs. Vo Hong Anh - daughter of General Vo Nguyen Giap and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Quang Thai - as her own children.

Despite the age difference, they were always close friends and confidants until his last days. The General and his wife Dang Bich Ha lived a very simple life. Whatever they could do, they took the initiative without bothering their subordinates.

House number 30 Hoang Dieu always maintained a warm and friendly atmosphere. Until 2009, when his health was getting worse, the General had to stay in the hospital. Every week, Mrs. Bich Ha visited her husband and talked with him. When she was tired and could not come, he asked his children and said: "Tell Ms. Ha to take care of her health!"

Sharing with VietNamNet, journalist, Colonel Tran Hong (who took many photos of the General) said that General Vo Nguyen Giap and his wife always lived simply.

Mr. Tran Hong took a photo in October 1994: “That day, I witnessed the very touching gestures of the grandparents, a tray of food with two eggs, very frugal, she gave it to him, he gave it to her, the bowl of eggs kept being pushed back and forth.

He said, “Eat up,” and she said, “Eat up so you have strength.” They both showed each other special care.

Having frequent contact with the General and his wife, Colonel Tran Hong said that the General always respected Mrs. Bich Ha. When there were guests, the General always called her "sister Ha", and when he was not in a relationship, he always gently called her "younger sister Ha". When there were guests, Mrs. Ha called him "General Vo Nguyen Giap", and normally she called her husband "brother Van".
