Ms. Ho Thi Kim Thoa retired on September 1st.

Former Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Ho Thi Kim Thoa, will retire under the social insurance scheme starting September 1st.

According to information from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the agency has issued a decision regarding Ms. Ho Thi Kim Thoa's retirement under the social insurance scheme effective September 1st. The agency states that after the Prime Minister dismissed her from the position of Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade on August 16th, Ms. Thoa is a civil servant under the Ministry's management and is no longer subject to the higher retirement age for civil servants as stipulated in Decree 53/2015.

"Therefore, according to the regulations in the Law on Civil Servants, the Labor Code, and the Social Insurance Code, Ms. Thoa has met the conditions to retire and receive social insurance benefits," the Ministry of Industry and Trade affirmed.

A day ago, Deputy Minister Do Thang Hai also confirmed that the agency is considering a decision to dismiss Ms. Thoa from her job.In fact, immediately after the meeting of the Central Disciplinary Committee, Ms. Thoa submitted her resignation but it was not accepted because she was still under disciplinary review.

According to a source from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, since being dismissed from her position as Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade in mid-August, and despite having taken leave quite some time ago, Ms. Thoa has not come to work.

According to this source, Ms. Thoa also provided further explanation in her letter to the ministry's leadership regarding her desire to retire. She stated that her parents currently live in Ho Chi Minh City and she wishes to spend time caring for them. This is a completely understandable personal matter. The source also noted that prior to the Prime Minister's decision to dismiss her from her position as Deputy Minister, Ms. Thoa had little contact with people within the ministry.

At its 15th session, the Central Inspection Committee pointed out numerous shortcomings of Ms. Ho Thi Kim Thoa during her time holding the positions of Party Secretary and Director of Dien Quang Light Bulb Company, and Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and General Director of Dien Quang Light Bulb Joint Stock Company (from January 2004 to May 2010). Specifically, Ms. Thoa was found to have violated procedures in the equitization of the enterprise, failed to report to the Ministry of Industry (now the Ministry of Industry and Trade) for handling, and improperly handled the 6.7 billion VND in interest on loans waived by the bank.

She also failed to report to the competent authorities and improperly handled the 30 billion VND revenue from the transfer of the right to exploit and use the land at 12 Ton Dan Street (Ho Chi Minh City). At the same time, she purchased shares exceeding the prescribed limit; and transferred...The number of shares does not comply with the company's charter...

On August 16, the Prime Minister signed a decision dismissing Ms. Thoa from her position as Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade and requested the Minister of Industry and Trade to assign her specific duties within the Ministry.

Earlier on August 8th, the Party Central Committee met and decided to dismiss Ms. Ho Thi Kim Thoa from her position as a member of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and requested the Prime Minister to dismiss her from the position of Deputy Minister.

Although retired, Mrs. Thoa andSeveral family members (mother, younger brother, daughter, etc.) currently hold approximately 11.78 million shares (34.57% of the charter capital) in Dien Quang Light Bulb Joint Stock Company. The value of this family asset held by Deputy Minister Thoa is currently nearly 500 billion VND.
