Accordingly, on the evening of April 19, when Buddhists came to the temple to chant sutras and recite Buddha's name, they discovered that three donation boxes placed in the main hall of the temple had been broken into by thieves.
The temple quickly reported the incident to the local authorities. At the scene, authorities found the main door of the temple had been pushed off its hinges and the back of three donation boxes had been broken.
According to the temple's Board of Trustees, it is impossible to know exactly how much money was stolen from the three donation boxes. However, it is estimated to be over 10 million VND because the temple recently organized a retreat and held a prayer ceremony, so many Buddhists and people came to attend and donate.
After discovering that 3 out of 4 donation boxes had been broken into, the temple checked the amount of donations in the donation box under the Patriarch's house and counted nearly 4 million VND.
