Ba Ria - Vung Tau football team officially debuted to start competing in the National Third Division in 2017. After a few years of struggling in the lower leagues, Ba Ria - Vung Tau entered the final of the 2019 National Second Division football tournament.

In terms of personnel, with stable investment sources, this team has brought in a series of notable names, who have experience fighting in V.League such as Captain Nguyen Hai Anh, Nguyen Xuan Luan, Que Ngoc Manh, Nguyen Trung Tin and Vo Hoang Quang.
Among them, striker Hai Anh was once called up to the national team by coach Toshiya Miura, defender Xuan Luan was a veteran of B. Binh Duong in previous years, Ngoc Manh won the 2011 V.League championship with SLNA and Hoang Quang is a former veteran player of SHB Da Nang.
