(Baonghean.vn) - Greedy for profit, three 2K generation youths, including two high school students in Nghe An, agreed to transport nearly 10kg of drugs and were arrested.

On September 22, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of three defendants: Gia Duy Chung (born 2003), Gia Ba Kenh (born 2004), both residing in Dooc May commune, Ky Son district, and Va Ba Gio (born 2000), residing in Muong Tip commune, Ky Son district, for the crime of "Illegal transportation of drugs”.

At the time of the crime, the two defendants Chung and Kenh were under 18 years old and were high school students. Therefore, the trial was attended by the parents of the two defendants as guardians.

The case file shows that the mastermind of this drug ring is Va Ba Cu (born 2004, residing in Muong Tip commune, Ky Son district), who once migrated to Laos to live.

Around the beginning of December 2020, through the social network Facebook, Cu texted Gio (who was working as a worker in Hanoi at that time) to hire him to transport drugs from Ky Son district (Nghe An) to Hanoi and Cao Bang for a fee of 300 million VND. Gio agreed.

On December 28, 2020, Cu called to hire Gia Duy Chung (who was studying at a high school in Ky Son district at the time) to transport drugs to Hanoi and would receive 100 million VND in wages.

Afraid that he might be discovered if he went too far, Chung refused and only agreed to transport the drugs from the border to Muong Xen town. Cu agreed to the plan and promised to pay Chung 20 million VND for the service.

Then, Chung called his cousin Gia Ba Kenh (a high school student) to help him transport drugs, promising to split the wages.

On January 1, 2021, following Cu's instructions, Gio took a bus from Hanoi to Ky Son to receive the goods. On the same day, Chung and Kenh went to the border area to get the drugs and then transported them back by motorbike to deliver to Gio.

However, when they arrived at Noong De village, Nam Can commune, both were checked by the Border Guard Station of Nam Can International Border Gate - Nghe An Border Guard Command, and many types of drugs with a total weight of nearly 10kg were seized. Based on Chung's statement, the agency arrested Va Ba Gio in front of the high school gate.

At the trial, the defendants admitted their crimes. The two defendants, Kenh and Chung, confessed that they agreed to transport drugs because they wanted 10 million VND in profit. The defendants expressed remorse and asked the court to reduce their sentences so they could start over.

The panel of judges determined that the defendants’ actions were dangerous, transporting large quantities of drugs. However, during the investigation and at trial, the defendants confessed honestly and showed remorse. The two defendants Chung and Kenh committed the crime when they were under 18 years old, and the defendant Gio committed the crime before reaching the age of 18.

Considering the case comprehensively, the panel sentenced Va Ba Gio to 20 years in prison, defendant Gia Duy Chung to 17 years in prison, and Gia Ba Kenh to 15 years in prison.

For Va Ba Cu, the investigation agency has issued a wanted order. When he is arrested, he will be prosecuted./.
