(Baonghean.vn) - Driven by greed, three young people from the 2000s generation, including two high school students in Nghe An, agreed to transport nearly 10kg of drugs and were subsequently arrested.

On September 22nd, the Nghe An Provincial People's Court held a first-instance criminal trial to hear the case against three defendants: Gia Duy Chung (born in 2003), Gia Ba Kenh (born in 2004), both residing in Dooc May commune, Ky Son district, and Va Ba Gio (born in 2000), residing in Muong Tip commune, Ky Son district, for the crime of ""Illegal trafficking of narcotics."

At the time of the crime, the two defendants, Chung and Kênh, were under 18 years old and were high school students. Therefore, their parents were present at the trial as their guardians.

According to the case file, the mastermind behind this drug trafficking ring is Va Ba Cu (born in 2004, residing in Muong Tip commune, Ky Son district), who had previously emigrated to Laos to live.

Around the beginning of December 2020, through Facebook, Cu messaged Gio (who was then working as a factory worker in Hanoi) hiring him to transport drugs from Ky Son district (Nghe An province) to Hanoi and Cao Bang for a fee of 300 million VND. Gio agreed.

On December 28, 2020, Cử called Già Duy Chung (who was then a high school student at a high school in Kỳ Sơn district) and hired him to transport drugs to Hanoi for a fee of 100 million VND.

Fearing exposure if he traveled too far, Chung refused, only agreeing to transport the drugs from the border down to Muong Xen town. Cu agreed to this plan and promised to pay Chung 20 million VND as payment.

Later, Chung called his cousin, Gia Ba Kenh (who was in high school), and asked him to help transport drugs, promising to split the payment.

On January 1, 2021, following Cử's instructions, Giờ took a bus from Hanoi to Kỳ Sơn to receive the goods. On the same day, the two brothers Chung and Kênh went to the border area to retrieve the drugs and then transported them back by motorbike to deliver to Giờ.

However, upon arriving at Noọng Dẻ village, Nậm Cắn commune, both were stopped and inspected by the Nậm Cắn International Border Gate Border Guard Station - Nghệ An Border Guard Command, who seized various types of drugs totaling nearly 10kg. Based on Chung's confession, the authorities arrested Và Bá Giờ in front of the high school.

At the trial, the defendants admitted their crimes. Defendants Kenh and Chung confessed that they agreed to transport the drugs for a profit of 10 million dong. The defendants expressed remorse and asked the court to reduce their sentences so they could rebuild their lives.

The panel of judges determined that the defendants' actions were dangerous, involving the transportation of a large quantity of drugs. However, during the investigation and at the trial, the defendants confessed honestly and showed remorse. Defendants Chung and Kênh committed the crime before they were 18 years old, while defendant Giờ committed an attempted crime.

After a comprehensive review of the case, the panel of judges sentenced Va Ba Gio to 20 years in prison, Gia Duy Chung to 17 years in prison, and Gia Ba Kenh to 15 years in prison.

Regarding Va Ba Cu, the investigating agency has issued an arrest warrant; he will be prosecuted once apprehended.
