Thailand's Deputy National Police Chief Srivara Rangsibrahmanakul said on January 5 that they would contact British authorities, through Interpol, to determine whether former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra was in London.Bangkok PostReport the news.

This move comes after photos of Yingluck with another woman appeared on the Twitter account @zenjournalist and the Facebook account Andrew MacGregor Marchall with the comment "@puyingluck pictured outside Harrods in London today after being recognized by Thai tourists".

Thai police will also try to identify the woman photographed with Yingluck. Her face has been blurred to conceal her identity.

Thai authorities have yet to locate former Prime Minister Yingluck, after she fled the country in August, just before the Supreme Court was scheduled to sentence her on charges of negligent management of a rice subsidy program that allegedly resulted in budget losses.

In September, Thailand's Supreme Court sentenced former Prime Minister Yingluck to five years in prison. Some speculate she is in Dubai, where her brother Thaksin Shinawatra owns a house, or London, where she intends to seek political asylum.
