Thailand's deputy national police chief Srivara Rangsibrahmanakul said on January 5 that they will approach British authorities, through Interpol, to determine whether former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is in London or not.Bangkok Postreport
The move came after a photo of Ms Yingluck with a woman appeared on Twitter account @zenjournalist and Facebook account Andrew MacGregor Marchall with the comment "@puyingluck taking a photo outside Harrods in London today after being recognized by Thai tourists".
Thai police will also try to identify the woman pictured with Ms Yingluck. Her face has been blurred to conceal her identity.
Thai authorities have not yet determined the whereabouts of former Prime Minister Yingluck, who fled abroad in August, shortly before the Supreme Court was to sentence her on charges of negligence in managing a rice subsidy program for farmers, causing losses to the state budget.
Thailand's Supreme Court sentenced former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to five years in prison in September. There is speculation that she is in Dubai, where her brother Thaksin Shinawatra has a home, or London, where she plans to seek political asylum.
