Uncle Ho and Vietnamese youth

(Baonghean.vn) - Throughout his life and revolutionary career, President Ho Chi Minh always cared about the education of the young generation of Vietnam. He devoted much effort to organizing and guiding generations of young people to the revolution, participating in the struggle for national liberation, and building and defending the Fatherland…

In his letter to the youth and children nationwide on the occasion of the Lunar New Year in 1946, he wrote: "A year begins in spring. A life begins in youth. Youth is the spring of society." According to him, youth and young people are the future masters of the nation; the nation's prosperity or weakness, its decline or strength, largely depends on the youth.

Throughout his life, President Ho Chi Minh always emphasized the importance of moral education for youth union members. Viewing youth union members comprehensively, he clearly saw their position and role as "those who support the older generation of youth, and at the same time, those responsible for guiding the future generation of youth." Therefore, he paid special attention to organizing and training youth union members to become a revolutionary vanguard, a reserve force of the Party, to faithfully and excellently continue the cause of the class and the nation.

He urged every youth union member to consciously train themselves, constantly learn, and be exemplary in volunteering for all tasks. Alongside intellectual education, improving professional skills, and mastering science and technology, each youth union member must regularly cultivate revolutionary ethics because, according to him: "Young people must have both virtue and talent. Having talent without virtue is like a very skilled financial businessman who embezzles funds; not only does he not benefit society, but he also harms society. If one has virtue but lacks talent, it's like a benevolent Buddha who does no harm, but also does no benefit to humankind."

That revolutionary morality is absolute loyalty to the revolution, wholeheartedly serving the people, and being ready to sacrifice oneself for the country. This is reflected in the daily thoughts and actions of each youth union member. To transform young people into true revolutionaries, into new socialist individuals, he emphasized the necessity of educating youth union members in honesty, integrity, humility, simplicity, a positive and diligent work ethic, boldness, and creativity. Youth union members must always strive for self-improvement, live frugally and honestly, be selfless and impartial, always put the interests of the Party and the nation above all else, and practice serious self-criticism and criticism to help each other progress.

Furthermore, He also demanded that every Youth Union member and young person combat feelings of inferiority and self-interest, focusing only on their own personal gain and lifestyle; combat the desire for pleasure and avoidance of hardship; and combat the contempt for labor, especially manual labor... these are bad habits that hinder the progress of Youth Union members and young people.

With heartfelt love and complete trust in the youth and Party members, President Ho Chi Minh emphasized: "Youth will be the masters of the country. They must constantly learn and progress to truly be considered youth." Before his passing, he left behind "boundless love" for the youth and Party members, assessing them: "Our youth and Party members are generally good; they are enthusiastic and willing to volunteer for everything, unafraid of difficulties, and have a strong will to succeed"; and he instructed: "The Party must take care to educate them in revolutionary ethics, training them to become successors who will build socialism, being both 'red' (ideologically sound) and 'expert' (professionally competent)."

"Nurturing a revolutionary generation for future generations is a very important and necessary task." From his heartfelt letter to Vietnamese youth at the beginning of the century to his final "Testament," President Ho Chi Minh always showed love, affection, and thoughtful care for the youth and members of the Youth Union.

Besides caring for, educating, and encouraging young people to study and strive, President Ho Chi Minh was also a model of revolutionary morality, embodying integrity, impartiality, and selflessness, wholeheartedly serving the revolution and the people. Throughout his life, he strived for the independence and unity of the Fatherland, and for the prosperous and happy lives of the people.

Imbued with and thoroughly understanding President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, the Party and State of Vietnam have always highly valued the role of youth union members. They consider them a vanguard force and a reliable reserve force of the Party, and view youth work as a matter of special attention and guidance. Whether the reform process succeeds and whether the country achieves a worthy position in the global community largely depends on the youth union members and on the nurturing and training of the younger generation.

Therefore, it is necessary to focus on educating, nurturing, and comprehensively developing the political, ideological, moral, lifestyle, cultural, health, and professional aspects of youth union members and young people, addressing employment issues, developing talents and creativity, and promoting their pioneering role in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

Studying and following the thoughts and example of President Ho Chi Minh, under the leadership of the Party, with the spirit of "Nothing is difficult, only the lack of perseverance is to be feared; with determination, one can move mountains and fill seas," the youth of the whole country have upheld the traditions of previous generations, enthusiastically and vigorously responding to campaigns and movements such as: "Pioneering in socio-economic development and national defense," "Accompanying young people in establishing themselves and their careers," and actively participating in forums such as: "Vietnamese youth living, fighting, working and studying according to the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh," "Keeping the flame of tradition alive - Forever twenty years old," "Youth living beautifully and usefully"...

The affection, care, and guidance that President Ho Chi Minh bestowed upon youth union members and young people have always been a source of motivation and encouragement for young people nationwide in general, and the youth of Nghe An in particular, to enthusiastically and proactively join the entire nation in building and developing the country towards the goal of: "A prosperous people, a strong nation, a democratic, just, and civilized society."
