Readers of Nghe An Newspaper present gifts to the brave student who rescued two children from drowning.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 2nd, at Huong Tien Primary School in Ngoc Lam commune, Thanh Chuong district, representatives of Nghe An Newspaper, in coordination with the school, presented gifts from readers to Lo Duong Tu - a brave student who rescued two children from drowning.

As reported by Nghe An Newspaper, on the afternoon of October 2nd, two children, Luong Gia Bao (5 years old) and Vi The Truong (5 years old), residing in Hien village, Ngoc Lam commune, went swimming in a stream and were drowning. At that time, Lo Duong Tu (11 years old), from the same village, was washing his bicycle in the stream. Hearing cries for help, he jumped into the strong current and successfully pulled the two children to shore, preventing a tragic accident.

Tú's courageous act was admired by many and commended by various organizations. In class 5D, in the presence of teachers from the school and the Ngoc Lam Commune Youth Union, a representative from Nghe An Newspaper presented Tú with a gift of 1 million VND from reader Dang Ngoc Thang - a businessman from the Nghe Tinh Business Association in Ho Chi Minh City - and conveyed words of praise and encouragement to Lo Duong Tu, hoping that he would continue to study hard and do many good deeds.

* On the same day, a representative from Nghe An Newspaper delivered a gift of 500,000 VND from reader Manh Loc Khoa (Vinh City) to the family of two orphaned children, Nguyen Anh Ngoc (born in 2011) and Nguyen Quang Sang (born in 2013), in Xuan Son hamlet, Nghi Thach commune, Nghi Loc district.

The grandparents on both sides of the two children are old and frail.

Ánh and Ngọc lost their father in 2012, when Ngọc was still in her mother's womb. In July 2016, while returning home from Nghi Phú (Vinh City) after working, their mother, Nguyễn Thị Đạt (born in 1989), died in a traffic accident on the way to the hospital. Ánh is malnourished and very weak; both children are very young, and their grandparents on both sides are old and frail.

After the article "Heartbreaking cries of two orphaned children" was published on Baonghean.vn, many readers sent money to help the two children, totaling nearly 100 million VND. Two anonymous readers in Hanoi pledged to support the two children with 3,000,000 VND each month until they reach the age of 18.

The money donated by readers has been deposited into a savings account under the name of Ms. Le Thi Thuyet - the aunt (who has been formally certified by the Nghi Thiet Commune People's Committee as the guardian of the two children) - to be given to the two children when they reach adulthood.

After their mother's 100-day memorial service, Ánh and Ngọc were picked up by their grandfather and uncle and brought to Chùa 1 hamlet, Nghi Thiết commune (Nghi Lộc district), where they started attending Nghi Thiết kindergarten.
