Discussing solutions for sustainable biosafety shrimp farming

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 30, in Quynh Luu district, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a conference to discuss solutions for safe shrimp farming and sustainable development for shrimp farmers.

Comrade Tran Huu Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development chaired the conference. Attending the conference were leaders of the Department of Fisheries, Veterinary, Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, Department of Agriculture of Quynh Luu, Hoang Mai, Dien Chau districts, shrimp seed production units, and some shrimp farming households in the area.

The conference summarized the work of biosafety shrimp farming and pointed out the causes of problems in the shrimp farming process.

After more than 1 year of implementing 7 shrimp farming models in 3 localities: Quynh Luu, Hoang Mai, Dien Chau with an area of ​​240 hectares, according to VietCAP's process, shrimp productivity reached 4.9 tons/ha/crop, compared to shrimp farming outside VietGAP area, an increase of 1 ton/ha/crop. However, the Project is still continuing to monitor and guide shrimp farmers to implement in a more scientific way to achieve higher shrimp productivity.

At the conference, shrimp farmers raised issues such as whether antibiotics should be used in shrimp farming; how to identify the age of shrimp larvae; how to ferment probiotics...
