Discuss solutions for building disaster-resistant houses

(Baonghean.vn) - On September 23, in Vinh City, the scientific workshop "Houses for natural disaster prevention and climate change response" was organized by Vinh University of Industry in collaboration with Onduline Group - Asia Pacific Region.

At the workshop, delegates discussed solutions for building disaster-resistant houses and responding to climate change in accordance with the natural conditions and climate of Vietnam (especially the Central region).

Most opinions agree that houses suitable for storm and flood areas should have the following characteristics: being able to be installed and dismantled and moved as needed, using lightweight, environmentally friendly building materials, and being able to withstand salinity, temperature, and corrosion. In particular, the roof of a storm-proof house, in addition to using lightweight materials, should not have sharp edges, so that if the roof is blown off, it will not cause accidents to people, and should have a reasonable price...

Overview of the workshop

The lightweight prefabricated house system is considered the optimal solution, suitable for the harsh climate of the Central region, where storms and tornadoes often occur.

After receiving feedback from the workshop, the architects continued to coordinate with designers and businesses to improve technology and equipment, increase the capacity of mechanical and material production workshops, etc., and move towards applying the model of lightweight prefabricated houses, natural disaster prevention, and climate change response to real life.
