The Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department has just issued a notice regarding the obligation to register for tax and declare and pay taxes for business activities conducted via Facebook and e-commerce websites.

Accordingly, individuals engaged in the business of goods and services through e-commerce (selling goods and services via the Internet, social networks, Facebook, and other e-commerce platforms) with annual revenue from all business forms (including online business) exceeding 100 million VND are obligated to register and declare taxes.

The value-added tax (VAT) that businesses have to pay is 1%, 2%, 3%, and 5% of the selling price, depending on the type of goods or services.

The taxes and fees payable include: Business license fee (300,000 to 1 million VND/year); value-added tax; personal income tax; special consumption tax; environmental protection tax…

The value-added tax (VAT) that businesses must pay ranges from 1%, 2%, 3%, and 5% on the selling price, depending on the type of goods and services. Personal income tax ranges from 0.5% to 2%, depending on the group of goods and services. For example, wholesale and retail businesses pay a total of 1.5% of both taxes; transportation and services such as food services and manufacturing/processing pay 4.5%; and other business activities pay 3%...

Business owners must go to the Tax Office in their place of residence or temporary residence to register and file tax returns.
