In the last days of August, the villages in western Nghe An province are bustling with preparations for Independence Day. National flags are displayed along the roads, the villages are cleaned and beautified; families are busy shopping for food, preparing clothes and goods for the festivities. An atmosphere of excitement and joy permeates the mountains and forests as National Day on September 2nd approaches.
