Young father sentenced to 22 months in prison for selling drugs to students.
(Baonghean.vn) - In his final statement, Va Ba Ly hoped the Judicial Council would consider mitigating his sentence so that he could soon reunite with his family and raise his young child.
The trial of defendant Va Ba Ly, born in 2004, residing in Trung Tam village, Muong Long commune, Ky Son district, on the charge of "Illegal trafficking of narcotics"According to the provisions of Article 251 of the Penal Code, the trial opened on the morning of April 15th."
According to the indictment, at approximately 8 PM on December 1, 2022, KVH, born in 2007 (a student at Ky Son High School), messaged Va Ba Ly to inquire about purchasing drugs. Ly agreed to sell H. 11 synthetic drug pills for 500,000 VND. While on his way to deliver the drugs, Ly was discovered and caught red-handed by a task force of the Ky Son District Police.
The drugs seized from Ly were determined by the Forensic Technical Department of the Nghe An Provincial Police to be Methamphetamine, weighing 1.1 grams.

At the trial, the defendant stated that he regretted his actions and hoped the court would consider mitigating his sentence so that he could return to his family and raise his young child sooner. It was noted that his wife gave birth to a daughter while he was in custody, and this was the first time he had seen his child at the trial.
The court subsequently sentenced Va Ba Ly to 22 months in prison, noting that H., being under 16 years old at the time of the crime, was not criminally liable for his actions.
