Young father sentenced to 22 months in prison for selling drugs to students

The trial of defendant Va Ba Ly, born in 2004, residing in Trung Tam village, Muong Long commune, Ky Son district, for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking"According to the provisions of Article 251, the Penal Code was opened on the morning of April 15.

According to the indictment, at around 8:00 p.m. on December 1, 2022, KVH - born in 2007 (student of Ky Son High School) texted Va Ba Ly to ask to buy drugs. Ly agreed to sell H. 11 synthetic drug pills for 500,000 VND. While on the way to deliver the drugs, Ly was discovered and caught red-handed by the Ky Son District Police working group.

The amount of drugs seized from Ly was concluded by the Criminal Techniques Department of Nghe An Provincial Police to be Methamphetamine, weighing 1.1 grams.

At the trial, the defendant said he regretted his actions and hoped the panel of judges would consider reducing his sentence so that he could return to his family and raise his young child. It is known that while the defendant was in detention, his wife gave birth to a daughter, and it was only during the trial that the defendant was able to see his child for the first time.

The jury then sentenced Va Ba Ly to 22 months in prison, as H. was under 16 years old at the time of the crime and therefore was not criminally responsible for his actions.
