Gundam Realforce Keyboard Topre Mechanical Technology
Realforce launches four limited edition Gundam mechanical keyboards, inspired by legendary machines such as Z Gundam, Nu Gundam, and Sazabi.
The Fusion of Gundam and Realforce
Japanese keyboard brand Realforce has just announced a collaboration with the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise to launch a limited edition series of Gundam keyboards. The collection includes four models, inspired by Z Gundam, Hyaku Shiki from Zeta Gundam, and Nu Gundam and Sazabi from Char's Counterattack.
According to information from Realforce Japan, the pre-order period will begin at the end of December. The official price has not been announced yet, but it is expected to be equivalent to the Realforce GX1 models, which cost around 250 USD.
Famous Topre technology
All Gundam keyboard models are based on the Realforce GX1 series, a wired tenkeyless keyboard, using Topre switches – a famous capacitive technology that creates a smooth and quiet typing feeling. This is also the type of switch that made the name of Happy Hacking Keyboard, a product that is collected by the computer typing community.
Realforce says that there will be both an English and Japanese layout version, opening up the possibility that the collection won't be limited to the Japanese market. For Gundam fans around the world, this is great news.
Design and fan expectations
Despite its distinct mecha style, many people consider the Gundam keyboard design to be quite simple, similar to the previous Asus ROG Strix Scope Gundam Edition line. However, the fan community can completely combine Gundam keycaps that are widely available, from Zaku II to Hi-Nu Gundam or Sazabi, to add an "anime" touch to the keyboard set.
