Monster Hunter Wilds New Patch: Increased FPS but Sacrifices Graphics Quality
The Title Update 4 for Monster Hunter Wilds on PC fixed lag issues and increased FPS, but analysis from Digital Foundry revealed a decrease in texture quality at high settings.
The first of three expected performance updates for Monster Hunter Wilds on PC has been released, bringing a significantly smoother gaming experience. However, this improvement comes at a cost in terms of visuals, especially at high graphics settings.
According to technical analysis from Digital Foundry, Title Update 4 increases frame rates (FPS) and eliminates stuttering, which has been a frustrating issue for PC gamers. However, experts have discovered a worrying problem related to texture quality.
The problem lies in the high quality of the surface texture.
Specifically, at the "High" graphics setting, some areas in the game exhibit very low-quality surface textures. This is because textures are delayed in loading or even fail to load completely. This results in surfaces like the ground and walls appearing incredibly blurry and lacking detail, negatively impacting the overall visual experience of the game.

Unexpected improvement at medium settings
On the other hand, a highlight of the update is the improved texture quality at "Medium" settings across the board. This means that players using mid-range machines and accepting moderate graphics settings will get a better and more stable visual experience than before.
This trade-off between performance and graphics quality shows that the optimization process for the PC platform is still ongoing. Players hope that the next two performance updates will thoroughly address the remaining issues, providing a seamless experience at all graphics settings.
