Two female students were swept away by floodwaters while crossing a flooded road.
While attempting to cross a flooded road, a female student in Do Luong district drowned.
According to authorities, at approximately 2 PM on September 21, 2024, three students were traveling on two electric bicycles from Lam Son commune to Boi Son commune (Do Luong district). Upon reaching a flooded section of road in Lam Son commune, one female student stopped, while the other two attempted to cross. Midway through the flooded area, two of them fell and were swept away by the floodwaters. Nearby residents noticed the incident and swam out to rescue one student, but the other was swept away and remains missing.
Upon receiving the report, the Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue Police Department (Nghe An Provincial Police) quickly deployed forces and equipment to the scene to coordinate the search for the victim.
The identity of the missing female student has been confirmed as Nguyen Thi Th., an 8th-grade student (residing in Dong Tam hamlet, Ngoc Son commune).
Following search efforts, at 7:25 PM on the same day, the search team found the body of Th. approximately 30 meters from the location where the incident occurred.
