According to RIA Novosti on January 26, the British newspaper The Times reported that there are four scenarios for the conflict in Ukraine to end, including Ukraine's defeat.

"Although Ukraine has not yet failed, it is exhausted," The Times wrote.

According to the publication, the first scenario for ending the conflict is Ukraine's failure, which could happen if US President Donald Trump stops supporting Kyiv.

However, the Times believes that the American leader will be "cautious about letting such an outcome happen" to avoid being compared to his predecessor Joe Biden – a leader who was criticized for his "clumsy" withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.

The second scenario also involves the US ceasing aid, but instead of military failure, it considers a "bad peace deal" that would lead to the partition of Ukraine.

According to the third scenario, the parties would be able to agree on a ceasefire as a temporary phase before signing a peace agreement and ending the conflict.

Describing the fourth scenario, The Times relies on the organization of peace talks in which “Ukraine will participate with strength,” but acknowledges that Russia is achieving considerable success, and that without support from the US, Kyiv's dominance at the negotiating table would be impossible.

The Times emphasized: "Without U.S. support, Ukraine would have no chance of achieving a position from which to negotiate a peace agreement."

Earlier, US President Donald Trump expressed hope that talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine could even take place within the next six months. Prior to that, Trump had promised that he would be able to reach a negotiated solution to the conflict in Ukraine.

The Russian side believes that ending the conflict is too complex a problem to solve "within 24 hours".
