According to RIA Novosti on August 22, the Polish newspaper MyślPolska reported that Poland's militarization policy will not make the country safer; nor will it help it in the event of an armed conflict with Russia.

Last week, Polish President Andrzej Duda announced that the republic's military spending this year would exceed 4% of the country's GDP, reaching nearly $40 billion.

According to Mysl Polska, President Duda's speech at the celebration of Polish Army Day on August 15 resembled a speech given by an overseas lobbyist on the issue of weapons.

In early August 2024, Polish Deputy Interior Minister Maciej Wasik announced the deployment of an additional 2,000 troops to the border region with Belarus, double the number of border guards requested. Poland has become increasingly concerned about its border region since hundreds of Wagner troopers transferred from Russia to Belarus.

From Moscow's perspective, Russia has repeatedly stated that it has no plans for aggression against the United States and other NATO countries. The Kremlin has repeatedly noted that NATO, on the contrary, is behaving in a destructive, aggressive manner and is seeking confrontation. According to the Russian president's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, NATO aims to expand into the post-Soviet space and incite conflict near Russia's borders.
