According to RIA Novosti on August 22, the Polish newspaper MyślPolska said that the militarization policy pursued by Poland will not make the country safer; at the same time, it will not help the country in the event of an armed conflict with Russia.

Last week, Polish President Andrzej Duda said the republic's military spending this year will exceed 4% of the country's GDP and amount to nearly $40 billion.

According to Mysl Polska, President Duda's speech at the Polish Army Day celebration on August 15 resembled a speech by a foreign lobbyist on the arms issue.

In early August 2024, Polish Deputy Interior Minister Maciej Wasik announced the deployment of 2,000 additional troops to the border with Belarus, double the number of border guards requested. Poland has become increasingly concerned about its border since hundreds of Wagner soldiers moved from Russia to Belarus.

For its part, Moscow has repeatedly stated that it has no aggressive plans towards the United States and other NATO countries. The Kremlin has repeatedly noted that NATO, on the contrary, is acting in a destructive, aggressive manner and is seeking confrontation. According to the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, NATO aims to expand into the post-Soviet space and provoke conflicts near Russia's borders.
