Since 2010, a survey of 435 communes in regions across the country has not found any commune that has met more than 13 criteria. However, by early 2017, 2,656 communes nationwide have completed 19 new rural criteria, reaching nearly 30%. A significant contribution to this achievement is the practical participation of the field of journalism and arts.

In order to affirm the role and contribution of the North Central press and literature to the movement of building new rural areas. Over the past years, the Party and the State have joined with the Literature and Arts Associations from central to local levels to launch many creative works on the topic of new rural areas. Since then, there have been many excellent works written in this field.

In Nghe An, many authors such as Thach Quy, Nguyen The Quang, Nguyen Thi Phuoc, Le Ho Quang... have won many awards from the Union Association and the Vietnam Writers Association.

Notably, in 2011, in the literary award for the period 1980 - 2010 organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in coordination with the Vietnam Writers Association, author Nguyen Thi Phuoc was one of the only two representatives of the North Central region to win the cup. In 2014, in the award for the topic of agriculture and rural areas, Nghe An had writer Phan The Phiet win the B prize with the short story "Tuoi Dan", writer Nguyen Ngoc Loi won the B prize with the topic of agriculture through the short story "Nguoi Trong Debt".

Along with that, many press awards from central to local levels every year in campaigns to create and promote works on the topic of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's moral example all belong to the topic of agriculture and rural areas.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Do Kim Cuong highly appreciated the achievements of the literary press in the North Central region in general and Nghe An in particular. The artists considered the topic of new rural construction both a professional responsibility and a political task and produced many meaningful works, affirming the achievements of the new rural construction program in their localities.

However, the number of works in this field is still too small compared to the vivid reality that has been and is taking place. Many works are not deep, close and do not reflect the thoughts and aspirations of workers as well as the problems arising in life. In the coming time, artists need to immerse themselves in the lives of farmers and rural areas to write sharp, truthful articles that contribute to promoting the new rural construction program./.
