Nghe An Newspaper won the B Prize and the Outstanding Team Award at the 2024 National Journalism Awards on Gender Equality.
On the morning of December 18th, in Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment (UN Women), in collaboration with the Vietnam Journalists Association, organized the National Journalism Award Ceremony on Gender Equality 2024.
Nghe An Newspaper is honored to have one entry win a B prize and is one of three units awarded the Outstanding Collective Prize by the Organizing Committee.

Also attending the event were representatives from the Press and Publishing Department of the Central Propaganda Department; the Press Department and the Department of External Information, Ministry of Information and Communications; the Gender Equality Department (Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs); the Internal Political Security Department (Ministry of Public Security); Vietnam Television, Vietnam Radio; representatives from embassies: the US Embassy, the New Zealand Embassy, and representatives from embassies of the UK, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, and Germany; and more than 50 journalists and reporters from central and local press and television agencies.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Huong, Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union, emphasized: The 2024 National Journalism Award on Gender Equality is being held for the first time to respond to the Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence; to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the 10th anniversary of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At the same time, this is also one of the activities within the framework of the strategic partnership between the Vietnam Women's Union and UN Women to promote a favorable environment for gender equality, empower women, and end gender-based violence against women and girls in Vietnam.

Since its official launch on November 1, 2024, the National Journalism Award on Gender Equality has created a ripple effect among press and media agencies nationwide and has received nearly370The entries were diverse, ranging from print and online newspapers to radio and television programs, revolving around three central themes: promoting the prevention and combating of gender-based violence, promoting gender equality in digital transformation, and promoting gender equality in economic development.
Of these, online and print newspapers accounted for the highest number with 259 entries, followed by television with 70 entries and radio with 32 entries, with over 60% of the entries focusing on the theme of preventing and combating gender-based violence.

Each work conveys meaningful messages about gender equality, contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and also profoundly affirming the role of journalism and media in building a just and progressive society, and a safe environment for women and children.

At the awards ceremony, the organizing committee presented awards to 24 outstanding journalistic works by authors/groups of authors in four categories: print, online, radio, and television.
Among them, four A prizes were awarded to the following works: “Ia Mo Memories - The Road to the ‘Birth Station’ is Near” by Nguyen Thi Dieu Hien - Ho Chi Minh City Women's Newspaper (print category); “Promoting Sustainable Gender Equality” by Nguyen Viet Duc - Domestic News Editorial Board (Vietnam News Agency) (electronic category); “The Painful Issue of Child Marriage in the Highlands: Outdated Customs or Ignoring the Law” by Le Thi Hang - News Department (VOV) (radio category); and “My Grandmother, My Mother, My Sisters” by Chu Duong Thuy Anh - Documentary Film Center (Vietnam Television) (television category).

Four works were honored with the B prize, including: Special Topics."Developing female Party members from ethnic minority communities: Starting from the villages"by author Chu Thi Khanh Ly - Nghe An Newspaper (online newspaper category); the work "Children are not brides" by author Bien Thi Luan - Ha Giang Newspaper (print newspaper category); the work "Breaking the Barrier" by author Khuong Thi Nguyet - Son La Radio and Television Station (radio category); and the work "Women for Peace and Security" by a group of authors from the Foreign Television Department, Military Broadcasting and Television Center (television category).

In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded 8 Encouragement Prizes and 8 Third Prizes to works by authors and groups of authors in 4 types of journalism: television, radio, print, and online.

Besides winning a B prize in the online journalism category, Nghe An Newspaper was also one of three media organizations awarded the Outstanding Collective prize by the Organizing Committee for having many high-quality entries in the competition.
