Hoai Thu (TH) September 7, 2024 22:36

On the evening of September 7th, Typhoon No. 3 (Yagi) made landfall in Hanoi with tremendous wind and heavy rain, causing significant damage.

After the storm hit, bringing strong winds and heavy rain, many streets in Hanoi, such as Nguyen Tuan, Nguyen Trai, and some sections of Ring Road 3, were flooded up to 50 cm deep. Due to the heavy rain and strong gusts of wind caused by Typhoon No. 3, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam decided to extend the temporary closure of Noi Bai Airport. Specifically, the temporary closure of Noi Bai Airport will be extended until 24:00 on September 7th, a delay of 3 hours compared to the previous plan. Some apartment buildings in Hanoi suffered property damage from the storm; large corrugated iron roofs were blown off, trees were uprooted, and some areas experienced power outages.
