Preserving and promoting the Ví and Giặm folk songs from the 'cradle' of schools.

(Baonghean.vn) – On the morning of May 28th, the College of Culture and Arts organized a scientific seminar titled "Bringing Vi and Giam folk songs into schools".

The workshop was attended by representatives from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, cultural researchers from within and outside the province, lecturers from the College of Culture and Arts, and a large number of students.

One year after the Nghe Tinh folk songs were recognized by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity, many opportunities as well as challenges have arisen for this traditional musical form of the people of Nghe An.

The biggest challenge is finding appropriate solutions to preserve and promote the value of folk songs in the context of a flat world, deep integration, and globalization.

Mr. Ho Mau Thanh, member of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, delivered a speech at the workshop.

One of the solutions that has been agreed upon and implemented for many years is to introduce the Ví and Giặm folk songs into schools. However, the actual implementation shows that this is a new and difficult issue.

At the workshop, leaders of the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector, cultural experts, and lecturers and teachers from schools in the province frankly assessed the current state of folk song teaching in society (on television, in clubs, and in schools); contributed experiences and proposed programs, teaching materials for folk songs, and methods of organizing teaching...

Simultaneously, the workshop discussed several key issues: the theoretical basis for introducing folk songs (ví and giặm) into schools; policies and implementation mechanisms; infrastructure, human resources, and teaching materials… All aimed at clarifying the advantages and disadvantages of introducing folk songs into schools, thereby identifying effective solutions.This has the potential to ensure that folk songs have lasting vitality in contemporary society.
