China is not afraid of "war" with India and will be ready for a long-term confrontation, according to an editorial published on July 17.aboveGlobal Times. The report states thatChina may take further retaliatory measures along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

"If India stirs up conflict at some point, it will face the consequences of an all-out confrontation with China along the LAC," the editorial wrote.

According to AP, Lu Kang, spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said on July 18 that Indian forces must leave the area to avoid "escalation of the situation.""We have said many times that we hope the Indian side will understand the situation and immediately take measures to withdraw the soldiers who have illegally crossed the border back to the Indian side," Lu said.

Beijing and New Delhi have been experiencing more than a month of tension, with officials on both sides discussing the possibility of a conflict even bloodier than the 1962 war that killed thousands. The dispute flared up in June, after Chinese teams began constructing a road on the Doklam plateau.

Mr. Lu's remarks came after China's state-run CCTV reported last week that a unit equipped with rocket launchers, heavy machine guns, and mortars recently conducted live-fire exercises targeting an enemy position in Tibet. The exercises also included tracking and targeting enemy aircraft.
