(Baonghean.vn) - Bao Viet Insurance - a member unit of Bao Viet Group - officially launched the "Bao Viet K-Care" product on August 2, 2016, a specialized insurance product specifically for cancer patients, the first of its kind in Vietnam.

This is considered an effective financial solution, providing timely and comprehensive support to insurance policyholders with total benefits reaching nearly 1.2 billion VND, helping patients feel secure in receiving early and thorough cancer treatment, reducing the risk of death from this "deadly" disease.

Cancer is currently a major health crisis and a major concern for the entire population. According to estimates from the Ministry of Health, by 2020, Vietnam had 189,000 new cases and 82,000 deaths due to cancer, accounting for 43.5% of all cancer patients. Vietnam is among the countries with the highest cancer mortality rates in the world.

Research also shows that hundreds of thousands of cancer patients in Vietnam bring with them hundreds of thousands of families who suffer severe financial consequences from cancer treatment. Statistics from the Center for Nuclear Medicine and Oncology show that 34% of patients cannot afford medication within 12 months of diagnosis, 22% cannot afford travel expenses, and 24% cannot afford regular household expenses such as electricity, water, and gas. Furthermore, since January 1, 2015, the Ministry of Health officially reduced the reimbursement rate for 28 types of cancer drugs from 50-100% to 30-50%.

As an insurance product specifically designed for cancer patients, "Bao Viet K-Care" offers four insurance benefits to policyholders, including: Cancer insurance benefit (early and late stages), Hospitalization allowance benefit, Death benefit due to cancer, and Death benefit due to accident.

In particular, the product is designed with profound humanitarian values, including cancer insurance benefits where patients will receive a payout of up to 1 billion VND, thereby giving them more control over choosing advanced treatment methods and locations, ultimately leading to cancer eradication and reduced mortality rates. According to experts at the National Cancer Hospital, effective treatment of early-stage cancer can reduce mortality rates by up to 70%.

The process for purchasing "Bao Viet K-Care" is simplified to the maximum. Specifically, policyholders do not need to undergo a health check; they only need to complete a short risk assessment survey. Furthermore, the insurance premiums are very reasonably priced across three programs, and the premium remains unchanged throughout the 10-year term.

In Nghe An, "Bao Viet K-care" was well-received immediately after its launch. Hundreds of officials, consultants, agents of Bao Viet Nghe An, Bao Viet Life Insurance Nghe An, and customers participated.
