Two forest rangers arrested over destruction of green teak forest.
The head of the forest protection station and a forest ranger have been prosecuted for the illegal logging of rare green lim trees in the protected forest.
On September 29, Colonel Le Quang Vinh, Head of the Nam Giang District Police (Quang Nam province), announced that the unit had initiated criminal proceedings, charged and arrested Mr. A Vo To Vich, Head of the Cha Val Forest Protection Management Station ( thuộc Nam Song Bung Protective Forest Management Board), and Nguyen Nhi, a forest ranger in Cha Val commune, for the offense of "Lack of responsibility causing serious consequences."

The two individuals are accused of being involved in deforestation and illegal logging in plots 1 and 3 (sub-area 335, Chà Vàl commune), resulting in the felling of 33 centuries-old ironwood trees.
In mid-September, the Nam Giang District Party Committee disciplined Mr. Tran Lanh, Director of the Nam Song Bung Protective Forest Management Board, by removing him from all his Party positions for allowing illegal deforestation to occur.
According to authorities, Mr. Lanh failed to fulfill his managerial and administrative duties without justifiable reason, leading to serious consequences.
