Arrested 2 loan sharks in Tan Ky district
Taking advantage of people's urgent need for money, Lang Thi Nam and Nguyen Van Vinh lent money to people in Tan Ky district at interest rates of up to 85,000 VND/million VND/day. When the borrowers were unable to repay the debt, the subjects found every way to threaten them, causing insecurity and disorder in the locality.
On January 19, Tan Ky District Police announced that they were temporarily detaining two suspects, Lang Thi Nam (born in 1991), residing in Tan Hop Commune, and Nguyen Van Vinh (born in 1983), residing in Giai Xuan Commune, Tan Ky District, for lending money at high interest rates in civil transactions, with a total loan amount of more than 7.5 billion VND.

Previously, through the investigation, Tan Ky District Police discovered that Lang Thi Nam had many signs of criminal activities related to usury in civil transactions, and frequently had relationships with subjects with criminal records in the area. After conducting verification, Tan Ky District Police established a special project to fight and clarify the criminal acts of the subject.
After collecting sufficient documents and evidence, on January 14, 2025, Tan Ky District Police broke the case and arrested Lang Thi Nam for the act of“Usury in civil transactions”.

During the initial investigation, Tan Ky District Police clarified that Lang Thi Nam had repeatedly lent money to many people in Tan Ky District at high interest rates from 3,000 to 85,000 VND/million VND/day.
When borrowers are unable to repay their debts, the subjects find every way to threaten and cause disorder in the locality. From June 2023 to December 2024, Lang Thi Nam lent 5 people in Tan Ky district a total of more than 5.2 billion VND, illegally profiting nearly 1.4 billion VND.

Carrying out an expanded investigation, Tan Ky District Police arrested Nguyen Van Vinh for the crime of "Lending high interest rates in civil transactions"..
At the police station, through the struggle, the two subjects confessed to all their crimes. Tan Ky District Police clarified that the total amount of money these two subjects had lent was more than 7.5 billion VND, with illegal profits of more than 1.4 billion VND.
