Two individuals involved in usurious lending were arrested in Tan Ky district.
Taking advantage of people's urgent need for money, Lang Thi Nam and Nguyen Van Vinh lent money to residents in Tan Ky district at interest rates as high as 85,000 VND per million VND per day. When borrowers were unable to repay the debt, the suspects resorted to threats and intimidation, disrupting local security and order.
On January 19th, the Tan Ky District Police announced that they are temporarily detaining two individuals, Lang Thi Nam (born in 1991), residing in Tan Hop commune, and Nguyen Van Vinh (born in 1983), residing in Giai Xuan commune, Tan Ky district, on charges of usury in civil transactions, with a total loan amount exceeding 7.5 billion VND.

Previously, through intelligence gathering, the Tan Ky District Police discovered that Lang Thi Nam showed many signs of criminal activity related to usurious lending in civil transactions, and frequently associated with individuals with criminal records in the area. After verification, the Tan Ky District Police established a special case to investigate and clarify the suspect's criminal activities.
After gathering sufficient documents and evidence, on January 14, 2025, the Tan Ky District Police cracked the case and arrested Lang Thi Nam for the crime."Usurious lending in civil transactions”.

During the initial investigation, the Tan Ky District Police clarified that Lang Thi Nam had repeatedly lent money at exorbitant interest rates to many people in Tan Ky District, ranging from 3,000 to 85,000 VND per million VND per day.
When borrowers were unable to repay their debts, the perpetrators resorted to threats and intimidation, disrupting local security and order. Between June 2023 and December 2024 alone, Lang Thi Nam lent a total of over 5.2 billion VND to five residents in Tan Ky district, illegally profiting nearly 1.4 billion VND.

Expanding the investigation, the Tan Ky District Police arrested Nguyen Van Vinh for the crime of "usurious lending in civil transactions"..
At the police station, during questioning, the two suspects confessed to all their crimes. The Tan Ky District Police clarified that the total amount of money these two suspects had lent was over 7.5 billion VND, and they had illegally profited over 1.4 billion VND.
Currently, the investigation into this case is being expanded.
