Two suspects arrested for stealing electrical cables worth nearly 1 billion VND.
Two individuals stole three rolls of electrical cable worth nearly 1 billion VND from the Vietnam Electricity Construction Corporation and sold them for 400 million VND.
The Dak Lak Provincial Police announced that they are currently holding two suspects, Hoang Xuan Hieu (29 years old) and Phan Van Binh (32 years old, both residing in M'Drắk district), in custody for investigation into the crime of "theft of property".
According to initial information, due to business losses and debts to many people, on September 18, Hieu conspired with Binh to steal 3 rolls of electrical cable worth nearly 1 billion VND from the Vietnam Electricity Construction Corporation.
These power cables are being stockpiled at the Nui Vong storage area (Hamlet 4, Krong Jing Commune, M'Drak District) for the construction of the 220KV Dak Lak – Khanh Hoa power line.
After committing the crime, Hieu and Binh divided the three rolls of electrical cable into four smaller rolls and then contacted a man named Binh, residing in Binh Tan District (Ho Chi Minh City), to sell them for 400 million VND.
At around 3:00 AM on September 22nd, Mr. Binh and several others drove a car to lift four rolls of electrical cable onto the truck and transport them back to Ho Chi Minh City.
After a period of investigation and pursuit, on September 30th, the Criminal Police Department of Dak Lak Provincial Police, in coordination with the M'Drắk District Police, arrested two suspects and recovered all four rolls of electrical cable, which were evidence in the case.
