Four individuals arrested for engaging in usurious lending activities.
On January 14th, the Criminal Investigation Department announced that, through the investigation of a special case, they had arrested two groups comprising four individuals specializing in usurious lending in civil transactions.
Based on the documents and evidence collected, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Quang Binh Provincial Police summoned and conducted an urgent search of the residence of Nguyen Thi Hong Tuyen (born in 1969, residing in Group 8, Nam Ly Ward, Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh Province), seizing many important documents related to her criminal activities.lending at exorbitant interest rates.
During questioning, Tuyet confessed that from 2022 to the end of 2024, she lent money to more than 20 people in Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh province, at interest rates ranging from 121.67% to 511% per year, with a total loan amount exceeding 1.3 billion VND, earning over 100 million VND in illicit profits.
Previously, on January 4th, the Criminal Police Department of Quang Binh Provincial Police successfully cracked a case involving usurious lending in civil transactions. They summoned three suspects: Vo Minh Hung (born in 2003), Vo Minh Tien (born in 2000), both residing in Hoang Xuyen commune, Hoang Hoa district, Thanh Hoa province, and Le Van Hai (born in 1998), residing in Quang Dong ward, Thanh Hoa city, Thanh Hoa province.
Initial investigations indicate that from the end of 2023 to the present, the suspects have lent money to approximately 150 people in Quang Binh province, totaling over 3 billion VND. The lowest interest rate was 365% per year, resulting in illicit profits exceeding 500 million VND.
The Investigation Police Department of Quang Binh province has served the decision to initiate criminal proceedings against defendants Nguyen Thi Hong Tuyen, Vo Minh Hung, Vo Minh Tien, and Le Van Hai for the crime of usury in civil transactions.
