Authorities have also suspended four Border Guard officers and one leader of the Border Customs Sub-Department to serve the investigation.
Currently, the Quang Nam police investigation agency is also mobilizing the remaining subjects in this forest destruction ring to surrender soon to enjoy leniency under the law.
The subjects involved in deforestation have been identified and reside in many provinces and cities, making investigation and capture difficult.
Currently, field work has determined the coordinates of the deforestation area on the Nam Giang border. 41/60 pơ mu trees were cut down in the border area of Nam Giang district, the rest are located in Dac Chung district (Sekong province, Laos).
On July 21, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc issued a document directing the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defense and the People's Committee of Quang Nam province to investigate and clarify this serious deforestation case.
