Seven people arrested in multi-billion dollar football betting ring.

The football betting ring dismantled by the Ministry of Public Security and the Bac Ninh Provincial Police had a network of branches in many provinces and cities. Seven people involved have been arrested.

The Cybercrime Prevention and Control Department (Ministry of Public Security) recently coordinated with the Bac Ninh Provincial Police to dismantle a gambling ring that organized online football betting via the Internet. The ring was led by Nguyen Van Doan (52 years old, residing in Bac Ninh City).

"The ring was dismantled on October 5th. Police arrested and conducted urgent searches of seven people, all from Bac Ninh province, seizing 160 million VND, a car, an air gun, and other evidence," a source from the General Department of Police told Zing.vn.

According to the commander of Department 6 - High-Tech Crime Prevention Police Department, the case was established by the police four months ago. Authorities determined that Doan and his accomplices used numerous websites with servers located abroad to conduct football betting with amounts reaching hundreds of billions of VND.

Through investigative work, the task force discovered that the network of bookmakers was spread across many provinces and cities. The daily winnings and losses were transferred by Đoàn to the bookmaker through intermediaries.

On October 11th, the Bac Ninh Provincial Police initiated criminal proceedings against Nguyen Van Doan and six related individuals for the crime of organizing gambling.
