Nguyen Trong Tan was arrested for robbery, rape, and rape of a person under 16 years of age.

Specifically, at 7:15 AM on November 5, 2019, Tan drove a motorbike carrying a pepper spray canister to rubber plantation lot 64-65 at Long Tan Rubber Plantation, located in Ho Da hamlet, Long Tan commune, Dau Tieng district.

At approximately 9:10 PM on February 26, 2020, Tan was driving his motorbike on Highway 614 in Cong Queo Hamlet, Long Tan Commune, Dau Tieng District. Seeing Ms. NTH (a resident of Dau Tieng District) riding her motorbike alone, Tan approached her and kicked her motorbike forcefully, causing her to fall to the ground. He then used a knife to threaten her and dragged her into a rubber plantation to steal her mobile phone and 700,000 VND before raping her. After committing the rape, Tan noticed Ms. H. had gold earrings and stole them as well.
Previously, at around 12 PM on August 26, 2019, Tan was driving his motorbike on N17 road in Cay San neighborhood, Lai Uyen town, Bau Bang district, when he spotted PTT riding a motorbike alone. Taking advantage of the deserted road, Tan forced her motorbike to stop and used an electric stun gun to subdue her and steal her belongings. Not stopping there, Tan then restrained the victim and raped her. Further investigation revealed that Tan had committed a total of 15 similar crimes, including 5 in Dau Tieng district and 9 in Bau Bang district.
