For defrauding and appropriating over 3.7 billion VND from many members, Le Thi Y Nhu was prosecuted and temporarily detained by the police.

On December 28, the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Province Police announced that the unit had just issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and issue an arrest warrant for Le Thi Y Nhu (43 years old, residing in Binh Chanh Commune, Chau Phu District, An Giang Province) for the act of "fraudulent appropriation of property".

During the investigation, the police determined that around 2007, Nhu got married and moved to live at her husband's house (in Binh Chanh commune).

By 2014, Nhu used her husband's parents' prestige to open a savings association for many local people to participate; organized the savings association opening and delivered the money to the members in full.

From October 2016 to March 2021, due to the need for money for family and personal expenses, Nhu had the idea of ​​appropriating money from members. Accordingly, Nhu opened 41 more hui chains of various types, with a total of 1,427 hui shares with 160 members participating.

During the time of organizing the above hui chains, by registering false names, Nhu appropriated money from 137 hui members with a total amount of over 770 million VND.

In addition, taking advantage of the fact that members did not come to vote, Nhu also arbitrarily took more than 460 hui shares, thereby embezzling nearly 3 billion VND. According to the police, Nhu embezzled a total of more than 3.7 billion VND.

Around March 2021, due to the inability to pay, Nhu declared bankruptcy.

Currently, the case is being further investigated by the investigation agency.
