Authorities arrest suspect for luring 16 people from Nghe An province to a fraudulent company under the guise of easy work and high pay.

On August 17th, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police announced that they have initiated a criminal case and indicted Ly Van Sang (born in 1998), residing in Cam Phuc commune, Nghe An province, for the crime of human trafficking. This is the result of a special operation to combat "human trafficking" crimes, led by the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police in coordination with relevant units.

Accordingly, Sang was a person who had previously worked for a company in the Golden Triangle region of Laos. In early 2024, after returning to Vietnam, Ly Van Sang conceived the idea of ​​defrauding people in the western communes of Nghe An province and selling them to special economic zones in the Golden Triangle in Laos for profit. Because he had previously worked in the Golden Triangle region, Sang quickly colluded with individuals across the border to establish a network to deceive and sell Vietnamese citizens to these special economic zones.

To gain the victims' trust, Sang informed them that a company in Laos was hiring employees with a salary of 17 million VND per month, including food and accommodation, and covering all travel expenses. Using this tactic, from March 2024 to the present, Ly Van Sang has trafficked 16 people from Cam Phuc and Con Cuong communes to the Golden Triangle special economic zones in Laos. The victims were forced to work 17 hours a day impersonating government officials to scam Vietnamese citizens. If they failed to scam money on any given day, they were beaten, electrocuted, and withheld from receiving their wages. Many victims, unable to withstand the pressure of the work, escaped back to Vietnam.

Sang's behavior demonstrated a blatant disregard for the law, causing public outrage and indignation. In response, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police reported the situation to the Nghe An Provincial Police leadership, who then established a special task force to investigate. Knowing he would soon be apprehended, Sang fled to the southern provinces.

After a period of surveillance and the coordinated application of professional measures, on August 4, 2025, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police and the Cam Phuc Commune Police, in coordination with the Anh Son Commune Police and Phuoc Thanh Commune Police of Da Nang City, successfully cracked the case and arrested Ly Van Sang while he was hiding in a rugged mountainous area of ​​Phuoc Thanh Commune, Da Nang City. At the police station, Sang confessed to all his criminal acts.

Currently, the investigation is continuing and being expanded. The Criminal Police Department is announcing that anyone who is a victim of Ly Van Sang should quickly contact the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police to cooperate in resolving the case.
