Previously, on February 26th, the police station in Co Nhue 1 ward, Bac Tu Liem district, received a report from Ms. T regarding being defrauded and having her property stolen by Pham Tuan Anh.
Upon investigation, the police determined that, needing to purchase a large quantity of medical masks and having been introduced to a supplier by a friend, Ms. T arranged to meet Pham Tuan Anh on February 19th to discuss the purchase.
Tuan Anh boasted that his company had imported a large quantity of face masks from China, then sent Ms. T pictures and videos of face mask samples, face mask packaging, and scenes of container trucks carrying goods through the border crossing.
Trusting him, Ms. T subsequently signed a contract to purchase face masks from Tuan Anh for a total value of 169 million VND and paid a deposit of 65 million VND. However, when the delivery deadline arrived, Tuan Anh still did not have the masks to deliver as promised. Ms. T called him, but Tuan Anh did not answer, and he did not reply to her messages either.
Believing she had been scammed, on February 26th, Ms. T and her friend went to look for Tuan Anh. Upon locating him in the Goldmark urban area, Ms. T requested that he report the incident to the Co Nhue 1 Ward Police Station. Based on the evidence, the Bac Tu Liem District Police arrested and prosecuted the suspect according to the law.
