Fugitive arrested after more than 12 years on the run.
(Baonghean.vn) - The police in Hoang Mai town have arrested Ly Nhia Chua, a wanted suspect for "theft of property," after more than 12 years of hiding in the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
Previously, the Hoang Mai Town Police received information about Ly Nhia Chua (born in 1984), whose permanent residence is in Muong Long commune, Ky Son district, and who was wanted by the Criminal Investigation Agency of Ky Son district police for the crime of "theft of property". He was hiding and living in Muong Phu Cut district, Xieng Khouang province, Lao People's Democratic Republic.

The suspect had been on the run for over 12 years, frequently changing his place of residence and work, which made it very difficult for our authorities and those of Laos to apprehend him.
After receiving the information, the Hoang Mai Town Police reported to the Provincial Police leadership and were instructed to form a task force consisting of experienced officers to go directly to Muong Phu Cut District to verify the identity of Ly Nhia Chua. At approximately 11 PM on April 4, 2024, having determined that Chua was hiding in a house in the area, the task force unexpectedly approached and apprehended him, preventing him from escaping.
After successfully arresting Ly Nhia Chua, the Hoang Mai Town Police Investigation Agency escorted the suspect, completed the necessary paperwork and procedures, and handed him over to the Ky Son District Police for processing in accordance with the law.
