Fugitive arrested after more than 20 years on the run.
The police in Tan Ky district have arrested Ngo The Anh (born in 1982), from Nghia Thai commune, Tan Ky district, after 23 years of evading arrest for theft.
In late 2001, Ngo The Anh committed theft and fled. In early 2002, the Criminal Investigation Department of Tan Ky District Police issued a warrant for his arrest for the aforementioned crime.
Throughout his time on the run, Ngo The Anh employed various tactics to conceal his whereabouts, such as frequently changing his hiding places, working multiple jobs to make a living, and cutting off all contact with his family and relatives. Notably, he even started a family in his hiding place.
Through the coordinated application of investigative measures, by January 2025, the Tan Ky District Police had identified Ngo The Anh as residing in Nam Dinh City, Nam Dinh Province. Subsequently, arrest plans were implemented. On January 15, 2025, at the suspect's residence in Tran Hung Dao Ward, Nam Dinh City, law enforcement officers apprehended Ngo The Anh, ending his period of evading the law.
