A 60-year-old man who committed 15 burglaries has been arrested.
(Baonghean.vn) - Carrying 11 previous convictions for robbery and theft, Tam often frequented residential areas from Dien Chau district to Nghi Loc district and Cua Lo town. Whenever he encountered an opportunity, Phan Van Tam would immediately engage in his long-standing criminal activities.
On the afternoon of March 30th, the Criminal Investigation Agency of Nghi Loc District Police announced that earlier that day, the unit, in coordination with Quan Hanh Town Police and Nghi Hoa Commune Police, successfully cracked a case and arrested Phan Van Tam (born in 1961), residing in Hamlet 8, Dien Thai Commune, Dien Chau District, for the crime of...theft of property.

Previously, from the beginning of 2021 until now, Nghi Loc district and neighboring districts and towns such as Dien Chau and Cua Lo have frequently experienced property thefts from people's homes. The perpetrators often operate in a mobile manner, moving from one area to another, and whenever they see a family or kiosk/shop that is vulnerable, they immediately find a way to break in and commit the act of "theft."
For example, on the evening of March 24th, Ms. Tran Thi Hue, residing in Block 6, Quan Hanh town, had her house broken into by thieves who stole an iPhone worth approximately 30 million VND. That same evening, in Nghi Hoa commune, Mr. Dang Van Tam's house was also broken into, with thieves stealing a wallet containing 3 million VND, personal documents, and two mobile phones, totaling approximately 10 million VND.
In response to this situation, the Nghi Loc District Police leadership assigned the Criminal, Economic, and Narcotics Investigation Team, in coordination with other professional teams and the police of communes and towns, to establish a special case for property theft to combat and apprehend the perpetrators.
After a period of persistent research into the suspect's modus operandi, applying a combination of investigative methods, and dividing into teams to verify information in various locations, the special task force identified Phan Văn Tâm, residing in Hamlet 8, Diễn Thái Commune, Diễn Châu District.
At approximately 8:00 AM on March 30th, while Tâm was wandering around Quán Hành town looking for opportunities to steal, he was apprehended by the special task force. The seized items included 5 mobile phones; 1 laptop; over 10 million VND in cash; and other evidence related to the cases.
At the investigative agency, Phan Van Tam initially confessed that from January 2021 until the time of his arrest, he had committed more than 15 burglaries in people's homes in Nghi Loc district, Cua Lo town, and Dien Chau district. The total value of the stolen property in these cases exceeded 100 million VND.
The suspect is a mobile thief with 11 previous convictions for theft and robbery.
