Arrested 60-year-old man who committed 15 robberies

On the afternoon of March 30, the Investigation Police Agency of Nghi Loc District Police said that on the same morning, the unit presided over and coordinated with the Quan Hanh Town Police and Nghi Hoa Commune Police to successfully break the case, arresting Phan Van Tam (born in 1961), residing in Hamlet 8, Dien Thai Commune, Dien Chau District, for the act oftheft of property.

Previously, from the beginning of 2021 until now, in Nghi Loc district and neighboring districts and towns such as Dien Chau, Cua Lo..., property theft often occurred in people's homes. The subjects often operate from one location to another, at any time when they see a family or a kiosk or store that is not open, they immediately find a way to break in to commit the act of "Property theft".
Typically, on the evening of March 24, Ms. Tran Thi Hue, residing in Block 6, Quan Hanh town, had her house broken into by a thief who stole an iPhone worth about 30 million VND. That same evening in Nghi Hoa commune, Mr. Dang Van Tam's house was broken into by a thief who stole a wallet containing 3 million VND and personal documents, and 2 mobile phones, worth a total of about 10 million VND.
Faced with that situation, the leaders of Nghi Loc District Police assigned the Criminal Investigation Police Team on Criminal - Economic - Drug Crimes to coordinate with professional teams and the Police of communes and towns to establish a special project on Property Theft to fight and arrest the perpetrators.
After a period of persistently studying the subject's operating patterns, applying a combination of professional measures, and dividing into verification teams in different areas, the Special Task Force established the subject Phan Van Tam, residing in Hamlet 8, Dien Thai Commune, Dien Chau District.
At around 8:00 a.m. on March 30, while Tam was wandering around Quan Hanh town to steal, he was arrested by the Special Task Force. The seized evidence included 5 mobile phones; 1 laptop; more than 10 million VND and other evidence related to the cases.
At the police station, Phan Van Tam initially confessed that from January 2021 to the time of his arrest, he had committed more than 15 thefts of property in people's homes in Nghi Loc district, Cua Lo town and Dien Chau district. The total value of the property in these thefts was over 100 million VND.
The subject is a mobile thief, has 11 previous convictions for theft and robbery./.
