Son arrested for setting fire to house, causing severe burns to mother
Due to a conflict over land division, the son set fire to his mother's house, causing her to suffer severe burns. This person was later prosecuted and temporarily detained by the Investigation Police Department of Ca Mau Province.
On the afternoon of February 5, the Investigation Police Agency of Ca Mau Province Police informed that it had just prosecuted and temporarily detained Phan Tan Son (45 years old, residing in Hoa Thanh Commune, Ca Mau City) to investigate the act of "murder".
Defendant Son was the one who set fire to the house, causing his biological mother to be severely burned.
According to the police, at around 2:30 a.m. on January 30 (the second day of Tet), the house of Ms. PMC (46 years old, residing in Cai Ngang hamlet, Hoa Thanh commune) suddenly caught fire due to being doused with gasoline and set on fire from the outside. At the time of the fire, there were 6 people in the house.
The incident left 3 people injured, including: Ms. LKA (72 years old, the biological mother of the defendant Son) with severe burns, was taken to the emergency room at Ca Mau General Hospital, then transferred to Can Tho Central General Hospital; Ms. PVD (Ms. C.'s biological sister) had burns on her hands and feet, currently being treated at Ca Mau General Hospital and Ms. C. had burns on her feet.
The fire also damaged many properties in the house, estimated damage of about 14 million VND.
Through investigation, the Provincial Police Department identified the suspect who caused the fire as Mr. Son. The cause of the incident was a conflict over the division of land within the family.
Currently, the authorities are continuing to investigate and clarify the case.
