Elderly man arrested for sexually assaulting lottery ticket vendor girl, resulting in pregnancy.

Taking advantage of the naivety of the young lottery ticket seller, the 65-year-old man repeatedly lured the victim into having sexual relations, resulting in pregnancy.

The police in Cang Long district (Tra Vinh province) have just announced that the investigating agency has served a decision to prosecute and executed a 3-month temporary detention order against Nguyen Van Trong (65 years old, residing in Binh Hoi hamlet, Huyen Hoi commune, Cang Long district) to investigate and clarify the act of "sexual intercourse with a minor".

According to the investigating agency, the victim is a 15-year-old girl (a 9th-grade student residing in the same commune). The girl's family circumstances are quite difficult. After school, she sells lottery tickets to make a living and help support her family.

The investigating agency proceeded to arrest and detain the suspect.

Because he lived nearby, Mr. Trong took advantage of the times the girl came to sell lottery tickets, luring her with money to engage in sexual acts. After each encounter, Mr. Trong forbade the girl from telling her family. Later, the girl's mother noticed a bulge in her stomach, questioned her, and took her to the hospital for examination, where it was discovered she was pregnant.

In late August 2017, the victim gave birth to a baby girl weighing 3.1 kg. Following a complaint from the family, the police launched an investigation and conducted DNA testing. The results confirmed that the baby was Trong's child. After consolidating the evidence, the investigating agency issued decisions to prosecute and temporarily detain the suspect.
