Not only did they evade tax obligations to the State, the group of people working at NAC High-Tech Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. also impersonated doctors and medical staff of large, reputable hospitals to sell melasma treatment and skin care products.

On October 3, Hanoi City Police announced that they had initiated a criminal case of "Violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences" occurring at NAC High-Tech Pharmaceutical Company Limited (abbreviated as NAC Company, address 16 Van Hoi, Duc Thang Ward, Bac Tu Liem District).

The police also prosecuted and temporarily detained four suspects from NAC Company, including: Vu Dang Thai - Director; Nguyen Van Huy - in charge of the Sales Department; Hoang Manh Thang - in charge of the Marketing Department, Chatpage; Hoang Thi Anh Ngoc - accountant.

This is the group of masterminds who led the act of setting up two accounting systems, leaving out several hundred billion VND in capital and revenue, causing especially large losses to the State budget.

Previously, the Economic Police Department of Hanoi City Police discovered that NAC Company had signs of concealing revenue to avoid fulfilling tax obligations to the State and impersonating doctors and medical staff of large, reputable hospitals to sell melasma treatment and skin care products, so they began investigating and verifying.

The results determined that in order to conceal the actual sales to evade taxes, Vu Dang Thai directed employees to use personal bank accounts instead of company accounts to directly receive payment for products or receive COD (delivery service, collect on behalf of customers) from shipping units. After that, all the money would be transferred to the personal accounts of Thai's family members.

With the above method, Thai and his accomplices left hundreds of billions of dong in revenue from the company's melasma treatment products off the accounting books.

Thai and his accomplices used two accounting books to conceal their actual revenue. One official accounting book was used to declare and report taxes to deal with the authorities during inspections (the declared figures were lower than the actual figures, tentatively estimating that in 2023 alone, the actual revenue was more than 51 billion VND, but the tax-reported revenue was nearly 886 million VND); one internal accounting book tracked the company's business activities and actual sales.

The calculated profit will be divided according to the share ratio for Thai, Huy and Thang.

Impersonating doctors at major hospitals

In the case at NAC Company, the police also clarified that Thai and his subjects took advantage of customers' reluctance to travel far for medical treatment and fully exploited the utilities of social networks to boost sales.

The subjects created many scenarios to approach customers and then directed company employees to use "junk" phones and SIM cards to create "fake" Zalo and Facebook accounts to directly call customers to share secrets to cure melasma.

To carry out the act, this group introduced themselves as doctors who examined customers directly through Zalo and Facebook applications, or used these media to advertise Nacodi and Twhite products (products exclusively distributed by NAC Company), posting many videos with images of dermatologists advertising the products and videos of "customers" sharing secrets on how to use the products to completely treat melasma.

The subjects also impersonated dermatologists at large, reputable hospitals to instruct customers to send photos of their facial melasma condition, then used photo editing software to diagnose the disease and prescribe treatment products.

After customers use the product, the subjects continue to ask customers to send photos of their facial skin, then edit the results to show that their facial skin has improved, the dark spots have been reduced, and send them back to customers to create trust and exaggerate the effectiveness of the product.

By constantly contacting for advice and impersonating doctors to influence customers' psychology, the group sold a large number of Nacodi and Twhite products.

Based on the collected documents, the police agency conducted an urgent search of all NAC Company office locations. At this time, NAC Company had more than 60 employees performing the task of calling and consulting customers.

Currently, Hanoi City Police are expanding the investigation, clarifying the case, and closely coordinating with Hanoi City Tax Department to recover tax money.
