Drunk driver arrested for driving car onto sidewalk, causing 3 casualties
Driver Nguyen Quang Trung (Gia Lai) has just been temporarily detained for driving while drunk, causing an accident that left 3 people injured and dead.
On May 22, Gia Lai Provincial Police said that the Provincial Police Investigation Agency had just executed an order to temporarily detain suspect Nguyen Quang Trung (48 years old, residing in Chi Lang ward, Pleiku city) to investigate the act of "Violating regulations on road traffic participation" causing 1 death and 2 injuries.

According to the investigation results, at around 7:00 a.m. on March 23, Nguyen Quang Trung organized a drinking party at his private home in Chi Lang ward, Pleiku city. Participating in the drinking party were Mr. D.LG (45 years old), Mr. PTL (45 years old, both residing in Tra Ba ward); Mr. LTT (45 years old, residing in Hoi Phu ward).
After the group finished drinking 1 liter of alcohol, Trung asked everyone to leave their motorbikes and took his brother's car with license plate number 34LD-0027 to a drinking place in Ia Kenh commune, Pleiku city.
At about 11am the same day, Trung drove the car carrying everyone back from Ham Rong intersection to Pleiku City.
When arriving in front of house number 753 (Truong Chinh street, Chi Lang ward), due to drinking too much alcohol, Trung could not control his speed, causing the car to run onto the sidewalk, hit a traffic sign and a tree before stopping.
The accident left Mr. D.LG dead, Mr. PTL and Mr. LTT seriously injured, while Trung only suffered minor injuries and left the scene. The car was deformed and severely damaged.

At 1 p.m. the same day, Trung turned himself in at Chi Lang Ward Police Station. Through testing, Trung's alcohol concentration in his breath was up to 1,837 mg/L, many times higher than the prescribed limit.
According to the investigation agency, the cause of the traffic accident was due to driver Trung violating alcohol concentration and not being in control of the steering wheel, causing serious consequences.
