Driver arrested for driving drunk onto sidewalk, causing three casualties.
Driver Nguyen Quang Trung (Gia Lai) has been temporarily detained for driving under the influence of alcohol, causing an accident that resulted in three casualties.
On May 22nd, the Gia Lai Provincial Police announced that the Provincial Police Investigation Agency had executed an order to temporarily detain suspect Nguyen Quang Trung (48 years old, residing in Chi Lang Ward, Pleiku City) to investigate his alleged "Violation of regulations on participation in road traffic," resulting in one death and two injuries.

According to the investigation results, at approximately 7:00 AM on March 23rd, Nguyen Quang Trung held a drinking party at his private residence in Chi Lang Ward, Pleiku City. Attending the party were Mr. D.LG (45 years old), Mr. PTL (45 years old, both residing in Tra Ba Ward); and Mr. LTT (45 years old, residing in Hoi Phu Ward).
After the group finished a liter of alcohol, Trung suggested everyone leave their motorbikes behind and then used his younger brother's car (license plate 34LD-0027) to drive them to a pub in Ia Kênh commune, Pleiku city.
At around 11:00 AM that same day, Trung drove the car carrying everyone back, heading from Ham Rong intersection towards Pleiku City.
Upon arriving in front of house number 753 (Truong Chinh Street, Chi Lang Ward), due to having consumed a large amount of alcohol, Trung lost control of the vehicle, causing it to swerve onto the sidewalk, knocking down a traffic signpost and a tree before finally coming to a stop.
The accident resulted in the death of Mr. D.LG, serious injuries to Mr. PTL and Mr. LTT, while Trung only suffered minor scratches and left the scene. The vehicle was severely damaged and deformed.

At 1 PM the same day, Trung surrendered to the Chi Lang Ward Police Station. Upon examination, Trung's breath alcohol concentration was found to be 1,837 mg/L, far exceeding the legal limit.
According to the investigating agency, the cause of the traffic accident was that driver Trung violated the alcohol limit and lost control of the vehicle, resulting in serious consequences.
