Two individuals were arrested for transporting over 11kg of drugs.

Previously, through intelligence gathering, the Dien Chau District Police discovered a large-scale illegal drug trafficking ring transporting drugs from Laos, smuggling them through unofficial border crossings into Ky Son District (Nghe An Province), then down to Dien Chau District, and finally to northern provinces for distribution.

After receiving the information, the unit dispatched a task force to directly verify the information in Ky Son district. Through this, they identified two main suspects in the drug trafficking ring: Xong Ba Tong (born in 1994) and Xong Ba Da (born in 2000), both residing in Na Ngoi commune, Ky Son district, who showed suspicious activity related to transporting drugs from abroad and then distributing them to northern provinces.

Given the complex and dangerous nature of the incident, the Dien Chau District Police reported the matter to the Director of the Provincial Police, seeking his opinion.establish a special caseto concentrate forces and resources to combat and dismantle this network.

After a period of coordinated investigative measures, the Special Task Force obtained information that on the night of January 16th and the early morning of January 17th, Xong Ba Tong and Xong Ba Da would be transporting a large quantity of drugs for distribution in the northern provinces. Determining that the time was ripe, the Special Task Force decided to crack the case.

Under the direct command of the Provincial Police leadership, on the night of January 16, 2024, the Dien Chau District Police mobilized 60 officers and formed 10 task forces to conduct ambushes at various locations along the road from Ky Son to Hanoi. Due to the suspects' extremely sophisticated methods, the special task force held a meeting to discuss a plan to arrest them, ensuring absolute safety for those nearby while also guaranteeing the arrest of both the suspects and the evidence.

At 4:20 AM on January 17, 2024, at the intersection of Tam Trinh Street and Ring Road 3 heading towards Thanh Tri Bridge in Yen So Ward, Hoang Mai District, Hanoi City, upon spotting Xong Ba Tong and Xong Ba Da, the special task force successfully apprehended the two individuals for the crime of "illegally transporting narcotics."

At the scene, the police seized 11.1 kg of various types of drugs (including 51,000 ecstasy pills, 3 kg of methamphetamine, and 3 kg of ketamine). The arrest was carried out with absolute safety for the public and the officers and soldiers.

Currently, the Dien Chau District Police have placed Xong Ba Tong and Xong Ba Da under temporary criminal detention to continue the investigation and expand the case.
